Welcome back, Mike Smith aka White Noise Machine!
The former TPS Team member took a two-year hiatus from TPS only to return on Nov. 24 to take the win, on our 7th bday no less.
WNM was up against formidable competition, such as David Delisca (current TPS Team member), Emilee, Iyah, Amy and Banoo. We got a nice range of material, such as WNM telling us about heartbreak and David D. recounting his unfortunate Toronto Police encounter.

SATURDAY NOV. 24 @ THE DRAKE HOTEL (1150 Queen St. W)
Along with our usual spoken word competition, we also have guest poet Missie Peters gracing our stage
Finding the poetic in the personal and the metaphor in the mundane, Missie Peters is a spoken word artist and improviser from Victoria BC. She is a two-time Victoria Slam Champion, a former Slam Master and the current Artistic Director of the Victoria Spoken Word Festival.
Let's call this the all-star Sunday slam edition, cuz a whack of international poets made an appearance at the Nov. 11 slam @ the Drake.
Jovan from Colorado. Andre from Calgary. Shayne and Johnny from Victoria. Patrick from Oakland. Lots of hot talent lit the stage on Sunday night, felt like a Finals bout.
After the first round, many of the int'l poets moved on, such as Jovan and Andre, but some hometown faves were also in the mix, such as Richard Lett and Patrick de Belen.
We're back at the Drake, this time with a very special guest from Baltimore: CHRIS AUGUST!
In 2011, he was named the number one performance poet in the country at the Individual World Poetry Slam, held in Cleveland, Ohio. Making his Toronto debut!

Even a team piece was thrown into the mix, in Cathy's slot, giving us a taste of what the Toronto Poetry Slam Team has been up to these last few months.
