stretch the skin of my neck
let the showy lack of oxygen
loosen my grip on cruise control
stumble.
wince as a collage of
bright voices squeezes
in past my eardrum
the world is etched
translucent shadows on
thin pink membranes
flush with blue/white/red veins.
Seeing stars.
but that's all I need--
avoid the shadows and shuffle
on crumpled blue trees
along conquered mountains
caves set flat.
so crack open that
no preservitives apple juice
and give up the notion to
persevere and steer your trike
into the pool.
no horse play now.
'cause horses are cheaper by the dozen
they can't outlive cars and they
don't have a coffee holder
what a rip-off man.
so I blink and it's all a blur
life painted on my eyelids so I keep
my eyes closed.
