So it hit me the other day that BAM! doesn't really get a lot of older poets coming out and supporting the younger generation. I don't really know much about the reasoning behind this, but it would be "awesomesauce" if people could attend Bam! more often than people voting for elections. I for one, thinks that Bam! needs the support of the older generation to create this platform that will take Mario to a higher level. Not only will "YOU" the people of this community be able to judge our poetry from 1 - 10 but will also be able to inspire the youth and build the community that Marc Smith (SO WHAT?!) talked about during a glass of cold beer.
Slam Poetry is a gathering, the show starts when the first person walks in the venue and ends when you sleep in your bed cozy still thinking of the poetry you heard that day.
Anyways, if you can get pass my ramblings...
THE BOTTOM LINE IS: If you have nothing else to do on a wed. night! what better way to spend it by going and supporting the young spoken word generation of tomorrow and you never know... you might just get hit by inspiration to the face.
Thank you and have a BAM day.
Shoolie
P.S. (Check the Calendar for the next BAM! Youth Slam event.)
Whatup Shoo-fly,
As an out-of-towner my main deal is that they are during the week. I can't make it downtown in the middle of the week or hope to get home at a decent time afterwards.
I'm not sure about everyone else.
