Lost in the Crowd

A frozen oasis, my mind
_______________________skating circles
Shaved ice memories
piling
_______at the edges
melting
_______on my tongue

A desert of rock; feet calloused
walking circles
to keep from doing nothing
All the while knowing
there must be more

A flame of air, my lungs
_______________________pumping blood
Eternal lives pass
ghostly
_______through my soul
chilling
_______my nerve

We walk alone together
unable to express
our own truths

Dave et al.,

I had to use underscores to post this poem because the site doesn't allow me to use tabs (I know you computer people use the tab button for other things, but those of us who grew up on typewriters like to use it) and/or more than one space at a time (none to begin lines). I don't really like the look of it, as the lines distract from the poem's form.

Please don't tell me the site has a grammar over-rider that only allows for certain formats of poetry.

i find the lines
distract from essence
distilled in form

Am also getting used to the new site and its quirks, and sorry there's no proper tab, WB. Might be something we can easily fix, might be something we hafta live with.

Oh, first world problems!

I don't think you can do anything about the tab button, though, as it is entrenched in most programs as a cursor control command. Hopefully the automatic deletion of spaces is fixable, 'cause a lot of my page work involves spacial concepts.

P.S. I think I'll tab down to the 'Save' button.
