Here is the first of many scores you'll see on this thread. Note that we calculate a poet's scores per month by finding their average -- adding all their round scores and dividing by the number of rounds they were in. So the winner of the slam (the winner of the third round, since we do clean slate scoring) might not necessarily have the highest score. A poet is then given a rank, which determines how their placement throughout the season.
Say a poet finished 3rd in her first slam. Then a few months later she competes again and finishes 5th. Her overall rank is 8, and her rank has to be as close to 1 as possible to surpass other poets' ranks.
Winning poet DOES get a bye into the semifinals, as long as she/he slams in another slam. To qualify for semifinals, poets must slam at least twice during the season.
As asterisk* denotes the poet has slammed twice in the season.
