What you doing May 26? Oh, going to the Drake Hotel for our annual Anything Goes Slam? Smart move!
The Anything Goes Slam allows competitors to have some fun on stage and break the rules: wear a costume, do a cover, add some beats to your poem, play an instrument, bring a prop onstage, eat muffins while performing haikus, do something wacky, unexpected, original!
The only rule in place is the time-limit rule, still at 3 minutes 10 seconds max (and then there's time penalties).
Open mic available too.
7pm doors. 730pm signup. 8pm start
$5
All ages!
Guest-hosted by Livingston LaCroix from Guelph Poetry Slam!
We're stoked to feature a comedian we've always admired, Sara Hennessey from Toronto! She's a stand up comedian extraordinaire and star of Fuse TV & Much Music’s 'VIDEO ON TRIAL'. Sara has opened for Maria Bamford (Comedians of Comedy, Tim & Eric), Andy Kindler (David Letterman, Bob's Burgers), and Canada's own Debra DiGiovanni (Last Comic Standing, Video On Trial). Sara has appeared on The Jon Dore Television Show, contributes to Huffington Post Canada, and to the CBC Radio show 'Day 6'. Over the years, Sara has rocked people’s lives with various live solo Fringe Festival shows, earning her many an accolade. So be sure to check out her hilarious web-series ‘Goodbye Sara Hennessey’ on your computing machines.
